I've had an excellent experience with Josh. He's personable, evaluated my issue thoroughly, and provides objective data on my progress at each session. He's the most effective PT I've worked with, and I've been to quite a few.
Charlice Hurst
Dr Joshua is the best! He is helping me through some hip mobility issues and has been spot on with the treatment and the exercises he has me doing. I am seeing improvement weekly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about getting started with Par Performance PT in Cornelius.

Do I need a doctor's referral to start physical therapy in North Carolina?

No. North Carolina allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can schedule a discovery call and get started without seeing a physician first. If you'd like to pursue out-of-network reimbursement through your insurance provider, we can provide a superbill to support that process after your evaluation.

What does cash-based PT mean, and why don't you take insurance?

Cash-based means you pay directly for your care rather than going through insurance. This lets Dr. Malutan spend a full session one-on-one with you every visit. No aides, no handoffs, no rushed appointments driven by billing codes. We accept HSA and FSA payments, and we provide superbills so you can seek reimbursement from your insurance provider on your own terms.

Will I have to stop playing golf while I'm going through PT?

Not necessarily. Many golfers continue to play during their care, and Dr. Malutan will work with your schedule and your game to find the right approach. In some cases, modifying activity temporarily helps things move faster, but the goal is always to get you back to full rounds as quickly and durably as possible.

What makes Par Performance PT different from a general physical therapy clinic?

Dr. Malutan holds a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Medical Level 2 certification alongside his DPT and CSCS credentials. That means your assessment and treatment are built around how your body moves in the golf swing, not just a generic injury protocol. You'll be seen one-on-one at every visit, and your care plan will reflect the specific demands of your game.

Is this only for injured golfers, or can I come in if I just want to perform better?

Both. Par Performance PT works with golfers who are dealing with pain or injury and want to get back on the course, and with golfers who are healthy but want to move better, hit farther, and reduce their risk of injury down the road. If you're a golfer and you want your body to work better for your game, there's a place for you here.
